Position Title Safety Representative

Develop, coordinate, and implement the CTTR Occupational Safety and Health Program at the individual site level. Ensure compliance with all OSHA and related compliance activities, identify and mitigate physical and procedural hazards, implement safety training as directed; responsible for incident reporting and investigation, conducting work area inspections and assessments, waste minimization, pollution prevention and control, and record keeping.
Coordinate and implement the CTTR Occupational Safety and Health Program at the site level. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies including OSHA, EPA, US Navy, etc.; identify and mitigate physical and procedural hazards in the workplace, provide or coordinate safety training for employees as required or directed.
Position is responsible for incident reporting and investigation, assistance with developing and implementing corrective actions, conducting work area inspections and assessments, waste minimization, pollution prevention and control, and record keeping.
Develop strategies to continuously improve the CTTR safety program.
Follow AECOM's injury management guidelines for treating occupational injuries through coordination of local medical facilities and AECOM safety leadership. Perform root cause analysis and provide guidance to site management toward appropriate corrective actions.
Develop, coordinate, and execute an effective safety training program for all employees to address specific hazards at the site level.
Report all incidents within 1 hour of knowledge of the occurrence through the AECOM incident reporting system (Industry Safe). Coordinate employee's early return to work with treating physician per company policy and guidelines.
Provide direction to the site manager in all areas of hazard assessment, control, regulatory compliance, and safety program initiatives.
Establish and implement short and long-term safety performance goals, objectives, and safe operating procedures for hazardous tasks.
Advise site management on AECOM safety management policies, procedures, and directives. Operate IAW acronym "EMARA" - Enable, Monitor, Assess, Report, Advise
Coordinate supervisor safety training programs targeted to reduce employee injuries and lost work time such as STS or START.
Promote AECOM's safety culture and motivate all employees to participate in safety improvement activities. Develop and guide site safety committee.
Conduct and document monthly workplace inspections to identify hazardous conditions and regulatory non-compliance issues.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
May involve work typical office environment with no unusual hazards, sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. May involve work in different environments (labs, outside locations, etc.) Works in proximity to toxic chemical munitions. May enter areas containing explosive devices, toxic chemicals or chemical munitions. Work occasionally involves standing for long periods. May lift up to 50 pounds. May require work in high temperature, dusty or confined areas. May require work using and/or wearing protective equipment. Must be able to acknowledge and respond to Emergency lights and sirens and be capable of wearing a protective mask.
Minimum Education Level
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field or 5-7 years of directly related experience can be substituted for BS
Minimum Experience Requirements
At least 1-3 years’ experience in occupational safety practice.
1-3 years’ experience in quality assurance/control methodology and safety programs, including establishing programs from inception through successful implementation
1-3 years’ experience in design, implementation and assessment of internal program performance controls
2 years' experience in occupational safety practices
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret graphs, spreadsheets and technical documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write professional reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, supervisors and employees in a training class setting.
Ability to solve problems and deal with varied situations where employees may be at risk of injury.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Familiarity with common MS computer software applications is expected.
Minimum Position-Specific Training Required
Formal Environmental training
Formal 30 – hour OSHA Training
Formal HAZMAT/HAZWASTE Handling and Storage training
Citizenship and Security Clearance Requirements
Required to be a US Citizen
Required to possess and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Required to possess a valid state Driver’s License
Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
Possess a 40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification.
Possess an 8 Hour HAZWOPER Supervisor certification.
CQA Certification (ASQ)
ISO 14000 Certification
Professional certification/accreditation (CSP, OHST, CHST, etc.)
