Job Summary

AECOM's Buildings and Places department is actively seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for immediate employment in the Winnipeg, MB office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Design of power distribution, lighting and instrumentation and control systems.

  • Design and specification development for electrical power up to 25 KV and distribution systems, lighting and low tension systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security) focused in low voltage applications.

  • Design and specification of instrumentation and process control devices for various processes including water/wastewater treatment and industrial applications.

  • Design experience in with institutional, commercial and light industrial projects. Exposure to Water and Waste Water treatment processes an asset.

  • Design experience with Roadway, Highway Bridges and Interchange lighting and control.

  • Direct and mentor Intermediate Engineers and production staff.

  • Business Development: identify new markets, maintain and build existing markets, including client interaction.

  • Prepare fee estimates and prepare proposals (as capture manager and/or team contributor).

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs for the Winnipeg office and other AECOM offices.

  • Assist in the team achieving engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis and reports) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices.

  • Work closely with other discipline Engineers, Designers and Project Managers as a key team player within an integrated multi-disciplinary project delivery team.

  • Ability to manage, organize and participate in multiple work assignments including production support of contract documents as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution;

  • 8+ years of progressively responsible applicable experience within a Consulting Engineering environment,

  • Registered Professional Engineer with EGM or another Canadian Professional Engineering Association;

  • Applicable experience in design and contract administration of institutional, commercial and light industrial projects.

  • Applicable experience involving Water and Waste Water treatment facilities and processes;

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; proven interpersonal skills and ability to work within multi-discipline environment;

  • Business development experience;

  • Some projects will require security clearances, no criminal record;

  • Valid driver license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible applicable experience within a Consulting Engineering environment, Experience in Water and Waste Water facilities.

  • Experience in design of Medium and High voltage systems.

  • Experience with Industrial electrical power distribution.

  • Experience in design and commissioning, preferably encompassing electrical distribution systems and equipment up to 25 kV, variable speed drives, and instrumentation and control systems;

  • Instrumentation/Controls design experience.

  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (NEC or IEC exposure is an asset).

  • Familiarity with the Manitoba Building Code and National Energy Code.

  • Proficient in the use of power analysis software such as ETAP and SKM is an asset.

  • Proficient in the use of AGI32 Lighting Design software.

  • Fire Alarm verification experience.

  • Experience with a variety of computer aided design platforms including Revit MEP, AutoCAD and Microstation.

  • Public Works and Government Services Canada Secret Level Clearance is an asset.
