AECOM Lead Architect - Operations, Storage, and Maintenance Facilities in Winnipeg, Manitoba

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a National Practice Lead Architect for our growing Operations, Storage, and Maintenance Facility (OMSF) market sector to be based out of these offices (Mississauga, ON; London, ON; Kitchener, ON; Markham, ON; Ottawa, ON; Whitby, ON; Burnaby, BC; Winnipeg, MB; Edmonton, AB; Calgary, AB). This individual must be a licensed Senior Architect with experience and passion for these types of buildings. Projects may include new buildings, renovations to existing buildings, and building recapitalizations for transit agencies, cities, and industrial clients across Canada, or internationally.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Act in a National Lead Architect capacity for feasibility studies, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction contract administration. Work closely with supporting architectural staff to advance architectural design work such as reports, drawings, perspective renderings, construction specifications or other design deliverables.

  • Help clients to develop and realize the overall architectural vision for their projects.

  • Understand and apply relevant building codes to the design.

  • Work closely with interior designers, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil engineers, and landscape architects to integrate all aspects into the architectural design.

  • Sign and seal architectural designs.

  • Establish and maintain a sense of collaboration within the project team, including with clients and external consultants or third-party stakeholders.

  • Assist the Market Sector Leader with business development activities such as creating connections with clients, providing input into proposals, representing the firm at industry functions or conferences, and maintaining a working knowledge of projects within the firm.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture

  • Must have no less than 10 (ten) years of Architectural experience working on OMSF projects, including 2 years of leadership

  • Must be a Licensed Architect with the OAA, AIBC and/or other Provinces, with OAA eligibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED certification and/or demonstrated experience with sustainable buildings is a strong asset

  • Past experience with projects that require electric vehicle infrastructure or conversion of diesel fleets to electric

  • Experience with Major Transit Agency clients such as Toronto Transit Commission, Metrolinx, VIA Rail Canada, vivaNext, OC Transpo, Translink or similar.

  • Experience with multi-modal forms of transit including heavy rail, light rail, subway, bus, and fleet vehicles.

  • Past involvement in architectural projects that have received industry recognition such as design awards, accolades, or media coverage for being exceptional.
