AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Manager to join our growing team in Winnipeg, MB.
This position is a full time role and is expected to begin in October 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Serving as department manager and senior geotechnical project manager.
Provide mentorship and development for geotechnical team members.
Overall responsibility for project delivery of the Winnipeg geotechnical team.
Actively participate in business development activities by identifying opportunities, supporting proposal efforts, and developing winning strategies.
Provide technical expertise in support of on-going and new AECOM geotechnical projects.
Work with other senior level staff to provide services for current and prospective clients, and actively participate in local and regional collaborative opportunities.
Maintain positive working relationships with client contacts, suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants and external agencies.
Conduct technical reviews and complete analysis and design components for geotechnical projects related to highway, railway, utility, building structures, energy, mining, and other civil infrastructure and municipal projects.
Monitoring and ensuring sufficient workload.
Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of geotechnical experience.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba and Saskatchewan or eligibility to register.
Previous leadership and people management experience in Canada.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
15+ years of geotechnical experience.
Proven track record in developing and sustaining client relationships in the Manitoba market.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
Willingness to work flexible hours under a variety of conditions.
Strong demonstrated experience in site investigations, site characterization, heavy foundations, seismic assessment, earth retaining structures and construction support from tendering to inspections.
Experience in implementing design quality assurance and quality control activities.
Strong capability for proposal and report writing, specifications development, and project management.
Extensive experience in geotechnical evaluation and assessment for complex geotechnical issues including provision of recommendations.
Solid experience in foundation design and construction in difficult soils, slope instability, pile driving, aquifer depressurization, excavation and dewatering planning, construction inspection and performance monitoring.
Familiar with local soil conditions across the Prairies and specific engineering requirements for northern Manitoba.
Strong experience in geotechnical design and assessment of bridges, roads, highways, rail works, dams, dykes, culverts, river banks, embankment, MSE walls, underground structures, retaining walls, landfills, PDA testing, tunnels and shoring design.
Solid experience of modeling geotechnical problems using finite element software (PLAXIS 2D).
Strong background in trenchless design, modeling and construction.
