Position Title Planner II

The AECOM Planning and Environment Department is actively seeking a creative, mid-level Transportation Planner for immediate employment in the Wilmington, NC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an interest and knowledge of transportation/transit planning. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to supporting projects such as major transportation project development documents environmental impacts statements, feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, comprehensive transportation plans and bicycle and pedestrian plans.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations
Reviews or assists in the review of planning projects related to transportation for information, including land use policies, feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, environmental impact of projects and long-range planning needs
Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies
Collects a variety of statistical data and assists in report preparation
Coordinates community review of public project materials
Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments
Bachelor's degree in engineering or planning with studies in urban planning, transportation planning, environmental planning or related field
2+ years of experience
Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, research and data collection
Knowledge of a relevant specialization including transportation, and land use or affordable housing
Analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and apply mathematic techniques in practical situations
Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly to the public
Knowledge of relevant computer hardware and software programs, which may include Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS 10.0 and Internet applications
- Master’s Degree would be desirable, in urban planning, transportation, public policy, or related area of study or demonstrated combination of education, skills, knowledge, ability and experience.
