AECOM Construction Director - TTC Projects in Whitby, Ontario

Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a Construction Director to work on secondment to TTC to help their teams with delivering their Transit projects.

The job incumbent will be offered a regular, full-time position with AECOM and work on secondment to TTC for about a year before returning to AECOM. Length of secondment could be extended beyond a year before returning to AECOM.

Employee will report for work at the TTC office (depending on COVID, this will be discussed with the candidate) for the length of the secondment. After the secondment is compete, the home office for the employee will be the AECOM Whitby office.

Major Responsibilities:

.1 Review design documents and construction contract/procurement documents at key stages

to ensure they are constructible and enforceable.

.2 Provide input to reduce project costs and minimize the potential for disruptive delays and

claims to complete Work on time, within budget, and to a level of quality requisite for each


.3 Identify potential claims risk in contract documents and provide recommended revisions, as

well as construction risks, mitigation strategies.

.4 Participate and assist in the field review of the proposed construction site at the design stage

to ensure Work is carried out safely and efficiently.

.5 Liaise with other Directors and Managers comprising the Project Management organization,

and with the City and other authorities in the procurement phase. .6 Provide input to and updating the project delivery schedule.

.7 Ensure the planned construction staging/sequencing accommodates maintaining operation,

maintenance, and safety during the construction phase of the project;

.8 Prepare scope of Work and manage procurement of field personnel

.9 Manage the review, analysis and evaluation of construction claims submitted by the

contractors and providing recommendations to the project team on settlements.

.10 Participate in the review of departmental processes and procedures and recommending

changes based on experience and lessons learned.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must have at least a BA/BS + 6 Years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, to be considered for this position. Candidates with less will not be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

6 + years of relevant experience highly preferred.

Experience on transit projects preferred.
