AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil-Water Resource Engineer for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office.
AECOM has been awarded the 5-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract providing production and technical services for the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Under this contract, AECOM provides engineering and other technical services nationwide, including production of effective, flexible and sustainable Risk MAP products to develop and implement tools to protect the United States from floods and other related hazardous conditions.
The Civil -Water Resource Engineer will have a critical role helping facilitate the client’s needs. This person will be an integral part of the team, utilizing their knowledge of GIS, Hydrology & Hydraulics, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), and problem solving skill to support our client. That candidate will work directly with the client, both on and off-site, and will need to successfully manage client’s requests as well as support the Federal Register publication progress.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Provide surge support during critical national disasters or congressional inquiries
Respond to various requirements for geospatial products and services
Support natural disasters incidents when they occur
Manage the creation of maps or visualization output focused on critical infrastructure and natural disasters
Provide primary communication with the client to facilitate all requests with all 10 Region Service Centers
Among the PTS providers be able to facilitate, plan, organize and manage all requests from the client on tight deadlines
Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation
Excellent quantitative and presentation skills, using software such as MS Excel and MS Power Point to organize data, analyze data, and present reports
Bachelor's degree in civil-water resource engineering or similarly related field
2+ years of experience in related field specific to the water industry (ie: floodplain mapping, water resource engineering, coastal, hydrographic, H&H modeling, AutoCAD)
Knowledge of the NFIP program to support on-going projects and rapid response requests
Excellent quantitative and presentation skills, using software such as MS Excel and MS Power Point to organize and analyze data
The successful candidate will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the NFIP program to support on-going projects and rapid response requests
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Master’s Degree in civil-water resource engineering or similarly related field
Licensed as a Professional Engineer and/or CFM or ability to obtain
Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, especially historical reporting requirements for DFIRM studies, MT-2, and other related studies
Ability to analyze and communicate quantitative data to the client to both technical and administrative staff
Be dynamic, personable and highly self-motivated
Exceptional customer service orientation
Strong written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of H&H design software and ArcGIS Production environment
HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Flow 2D, ArcMAP, and additional software not listed
DHS/FEMA badge is a plus, but not required (must pass a federal background test)
