Position Title Electrical Engineer - Facilities

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office. The position is full time at one of our customer’s locations, assisting their facilities group in managing a variety of renovation and new construction projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with the customer Architecture, Engineering and Project Management team as a key team player within an integrated multi-disciplinary project team.
Work with internal customers to define the scope of renovation projects ranging from simple office space reconfigurations to IT and Telecommunications upgrades to complete area and floor renovations. These projects may include electrical, mechanical or both electrical and mechanical systems renovations.
Provide building and facilities condition assessments for both electrical and mechanical systems including:
Electrical Service and distribution systems (typically 480 Volt and below)
Lighting, Receptacle and internal power distribution
Grounding and Lighting Protection
Telecommunications backbone and infrastructure (cabling and outlets)
Building HVAC systems (both variable volume and constant volume)
Building heating (hot water, heat pump or electric) and cooling (DX or Chilled Water) systems
Energy recovery systems
Developing scopes of work and procurement documents for design/build packages of electrical and/or mechanical renovations.
Review of electrical and mechanical design package submittals from design/build contractors
Walk-down and inspections of electrical and mechanical installations during construction
Perform final punch-list and acceptance of electrical and mechanical installations upon completion of construction.
Ensuring that engineering deliverables (i.e. drawings, specifications, reports) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices
Communicating effectively with clients and internal team members
Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
10+ years of experience in design and/or construction
Active Top Secret Clearance required
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Registered professional engineer (electrical or mechanical)
Direct experience on facilities type projects
Excellent written and verbal skills
Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point
Self-motivated engineer who is able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, typical trips are a week or more and may involve multiple locations
Must be customer focused
Familiar with the following:
National Electric Code, Life Safety Code, Mechanical Building Codes, IBC and related electrical, mechanical and building code requirements
Working knowledge of the electrical and mechanical requirements if ASHRAE 90.1 and/or similar energy codes
Institutional, and or commercial power systems in both low rise and high rise buildings including 480/277 Volt and 208/120 Volt systems
Emergency and stand-by on site generation systems (500 kVA and below)
Commercial building space grounding systems installation, testing and design
Lighting design for office space, public spaces, and mechanical spaces, this includes both design of the lighting systems and modern lighting control systems
Telecommunications, audio visual, and security systems infrastructure requirements (i.e. Outlet boxes, raceway systems including conduit and cable tray, power requirements, etc.)
Institutional, and or commercial HVAC and mechanical systems in both low rise and high rise buildings including Dx systems, Variable Volume Refrigerant Systems, Chilled Water systems, constant and variable volume Air Handling Systems, Computer Room Air Conditioning Units (CRAC)
Familiar with power system analysis including short circuit analysis, coordination studies and arc flash analysis
Familiar with building systems energy analysis
Familiar with NFPA 70E
Direct experience with SKM power tools or E Tap is a plus
Experience with AutoCAD and/or similar graphics packages
Direct experience with REVIT and/or similar 3 dimensional graphics/design tools
Experience with medium voltage (5 Kv and 15 Kv systems)
Direct experience on facilities type projects for the US Government
An active Passport and the ability to travel internationally a plus
