AECOM Certified Meeting Planner in Washington, District Of Columbia

AECOM has an immediate need for a temporary Certified Meeting Planner to support all aspects of the planning and execution of meetings and program events for our Washington, DC office. This position will be supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Research and Development.
Position responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings and conferences.
Inspect event facilities to ensure that they conform to customer requirements.
Confer with staff at a chosen event site to coordinate details.
Monitor event activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, satisfaction of participants, and resolution of any problems that arise.
Review event bills for accuracy, and approve payment.
Plan and develop programs, agendas, budgets, and services according to customer requirements.
Arrange the availability of audio-visual equipment, transportation, signage, and other event needs.
Organize registration of event participants.
Coordinate services for meetings, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, etc.
Duties may also include budget development, site selection, logistics, planning, marketing, on-site management, follow-up and billing.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 7 years of event planning experience with some training or experience in information technology, wireless technology and video interface
Experience and skills supporting audio and video conferencing and vendor contract experience.
Ability to interact effectively with senior scientific professionals.
Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.
Requires operating application software including word- processing, and spreadsheet programs
Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Meeting Planner certification or equivalent
