AECOM Water Resources Modeller/Engineer in Victoria, British Columbia
Job Summary
AECOM Water team is actively seeking a Water Resources Modeller/Engineer for full-time employment. This position can be based in Burnaby or Victoria, BC.
The appropriately qualified applicant will have an opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of interesting water resources projects that include stormwater, watershed and flood management, stream rehabilitation, blue and green infrastructure and nature-based design. Skills you will likely use or develop in this job include hydrology and hydraulic modelling, data analysis, civil design and water resource management planning, all in a friendly, well-organized, fast-paced consulting engineering work environment at AECOM. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Working directly with the group manager, project engineers, asset management specialists, municipal designers, and biologists and support staff in BC and across Canada
Hydrology assignments to estimate flows including climate change factoring
Hydraulic modelling for piped and open channel systems, and watersheds
Asset management data analysis for stormwater and wet weather planning
Develop or update stormwater, watershed and flood management plans
Design of blue and green infrastructure including infiltration, retention and treatment systems such raingardens, bioswales, ponds, water squares, etc.
Collaborate with geomorphologists to develop engineered solutions including river crossings, erosion and scour protection
Collaborate with biologists and landscape architects to design nature-based infrastructure like living shorelines, restored wetlands, amphibious public parks, etc.
Collaborate with AECOM hydrogeological and mining teams to develop surface/ground water balance
Additional Information:

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources or Civil Engineering
4+ years of relevant experience
Eligible for registration as P.Eng. in BC
Experience with one or more hydrologic/hydraulic modeling programs including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, EPA-SWMM, PC-SWMM, InfoWorks ICM, R/Coding, MIKE, etc.
Experience with ArcGIS
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of experience in water resources
Registered as P.Eng in BC
Excellent organizational, communication and writing skills
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
2D Modelling Experience
Ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively verbally and in writing and work with others
