AECOM Wastewater Process Engineer In Training in Thornhill, Ontario

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Wastewater Engineer in Training to be based in Markham, Ontario.

This position is expected to begin in July 2022.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks related to municipal wastewater treatment design and construction administration activities. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Work under supervision of a project manager, contract administrator and/or senior-level team member

  • Participate in contract administration services during the construction of wastewater infrastructure and facilities.

  • Perform municipal wastewater treatment plant site investigations, data collection and analysis activities.

  • Prepare technical memoranda, contribute to preliminary and detailed design reports.

  • Prepare permitting applications for local regulatory agencies.

  • Participate in wastewater engineering/process design activities including preparation of design calculations, equipment sizing and selection, process layouts, engineering specifications and cost estimates.

  • Work collaboratively on multidisciplinary design teams and assist with coordination tasks.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering (or Bachelor of Science in Engineering) degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or equivalent

  • ON Class G Driving license required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in the field of municipal wastewater is an asset

  • Eligible for Engineer in Training (EIT) license by PEO

  • Proficient in the use of desktop computational tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, etc

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation) is an asset.

  • Strong oral communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills

Additional Details:

  • For this position, the successful candidate will work onsite in Scarborough as part of a construction administration team. The intent for this individual is to gain practical onsite experience for 2-3 years before transitioning back to the office to participate in design activities.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
