AECOM Groundwater Team Lead in Thornhill, Ontario

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an energetic, dedicated person to fill the role of the Groundwater Field Team Lead in the Markham, ON office. This position would be reporting under AECOM’s environmental team of 40+ staff in Ontario, which carries out environmental site assessment and remediation work both inside and outside the province.

The successful candidate will support various projects by leading a small team of technicians that will conduct groundwater monitoring and sampling activities throughout Ontario. Conducting field work is an integral component of this position and it is important that the applicant must be willing to travel, including extended travel, when necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong team player and leader, able to follow instructions and communicate well with others

  • Problem solving, excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work

  • Self-motivated and independent work habits

  • Ability to execute newly learned tasks

  • Able to work outdoors, often in inclement weather conditions, physically able to walk long distances in rugged terrain and carry up to 50 lbs of equipment

  • Willing to travel within the province/country, including extended travel

  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license in Ontario

  • May be leading and participating in field meetings, possible oversight of subcontractors, contribute to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans on a day to day basis, recognizing hazards and documenting safety observations.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the following in a work place setting would be an asset:

  • Field Notes – taking organized and detailed field notes, recording observations

  • Safety

  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Word & Microsoft Excel programs and other standard office software and able to compile and interpret field and analytical data

  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external clients
