Job Summary

The ITS/Traffic Department is actively seeking a creative, self-driven, highly talented professional engineer for employment in the Orlando or Tampa office. As an engineer in the ITS/Traffic Department, you will assist with a variety of work including, ITS planning, ITS architecture, ITS design, and ITS communications, traffic signal design. We regularly perform hands-on operations work, so you'll have the opportunity to assist with implementing. You'll also have the opportunity to design cutting edge ITS projects that implement the latest technologies for improving surface street transportation. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads the engineer efforts for traffic engineering reports and studies

  • Leads the engineering effort for ITS planning, ITS design, signage, pavement marking, and traffic signal design projects including following the agency's plan development process

  • Travels within Florida required serving FDOT statewide. Periodic travel to clients in other states may also be required. Typically one to five days per trip and approximately eight trips per year

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Reports to Senior ITS/Traffic Engineer in the ITS/Traffic Department

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical from an ABET accredited school

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a strong desire to learn

  • Proficient using Microstation, Synchro, and HCS software

  • Must possess a valid driver's license required

  • Design Experience in some or all: ITS, signage, pavement marking, and traffic signal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Florida PE
