Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Railway Signalling Engineer to join our rail team in Sydney working on a variety of rail projects predominantly in NSW but also assisting other states and regions.

As a Rail Expert with the world's #1 ranked engineering design firm, you will be exposed to a range of projects and stakeholders providing you with an opportunity to apply your experience on major to mega rail projects. Current and recent projects include light rail, metro, passenger rail, freight and high speed rail. You will work efficiently in an autonomous environment as well as contributing as part of the wider Civil and Infrastructure and AECOM team.

This position requires the candidate to participate on railway signalling designs through all phases of the project lifecycle.

As a Principal Signalling Engineer you will:

  • Provide high quality signal engineering consultancy services to the rail industry

  • Develop relationships with local and interstate clients

  • Prepare proposals, in accordance with client and governance requirements for signalling and associated projects

  • Manage / Lead delivery of signalling projects to achieve defined profit margins

  • Provide technical signalling expertise throughout the project life cycle

  • Develop and maintain the highest standard of signalling technical competence

  • Ensure Systems Engineering principles are embedded within all design activities

  • Support AECOM’s national and international signalling capability

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years professional experience in design, construction, and/or maintenance of signalling and control systems in both transit and freight sectors

  • Appropriate tertiary/discipline qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent of a recognised professional engineering body (e.g. IRSE)

  • Appropriate signalling and rail industry competencies/licences

  • A broad range of signalling technical skills in the field of rail engineering consultancy

  • Extensive expertise in stakeholder consultation and management

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and meeting delivery requirements

  • Practical experience with the latest signalling technologies, in particular ETCS and CBTC
