Job Summary

Our Sydney office is looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer to provide high quality engineering design and consultancy services to the rail industry . This position requires an experienced candidate to oversee electrical designs from feasibility, through concept and ultimately to full detail design.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, develop and retain the highest standard of technical skill in rail electrification

  • In accordance to specifications of the project plan provide accurate and professionally responsible outputs on program and on budget

  • Contribute to a complete and integrated set of project documents by working co-operatively with team members

  • Check own and team work and verifies it before issue to the client

  • Commit to continual professional development and learning on relevant technological, business and human relationship matters.

  • Be a flexible professional with the ability to work in a number of differing consultancy environments and situations across the project lifecycle

  • Develops an understanding of the client’s business and makes the connection to AECOM service offerings

  • Gathers first-hand client information and uses it for improvements in services

  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with clients

  • Strives to ensure that client goals and expectations are met and exceeded; as a result, the client trusts the individual to consistently deliver project management and results

  • Works with a long-term perspective to address clients’ problems.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience

  • Apply knowledge of different traction supply systems, such as AC, DC, and Heavy Rail & Light Rail is essential and international experience would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite

  • Knowledge of high voltage reticulation, low voltage distribution, traction supply and earthing & bonding aspects of rail electrical systems is required

  • A proven track record in leading multidisciplinary rail projects, across the project lifecycle

  • Extensive expertise in stakeholder consultation and management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Appropriate tertiary/discipline qualifications

  • Appropriate electrical design accreditation for rail systems
