AECOM Senior Inspector in Sudbury, Ontario

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking one (1) highly motivated Civil Engineering Technicians/Technologists for a contract position in the Sudbury office. AECOM is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records

  • Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals

  • Responsible for providing on the job training to new employees

  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications and or code requirements by performing inspection duties

  • Tracks quality assurance progress

  • Daily inspections and documentation of contractors works ensuring contract compliance

  • Ensure that all material being used conforms to specifications of the contract

  • Confirm and document progress quantities for payment

  • Read and interpret contract drawings and specifications

  • Prepare weekly / monthly reports of QA testing and inspections

  • Provide input for conflict resolution and mitigating measures

  • Ensuring the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner

  • Working with and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and contractors

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Civil Engineering Technician/Technology Diploma or equivalent experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in teams

  • Must be responsible and able to learn on the job

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Accuracy with details and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential

  • Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services

  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision

  • Must be able to oversee other staff

  • Must be able to make qualified decisions in the field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of grading inspection experience

  • Paving inspection experience is an asset

  • Experience performing construction layout surveys is an asset
