AECOM Senior Highway Design Engineer in Sudbury, Ontario

Job Summary
The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Highway Design Engineer for immediate employment in the North Bay, Ontario office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Manage, design and prepare documents and contract tender packages in MTO format for highway rehabilitation and reconstruction projects which will include the preparation of calculations, specifications, plans and drawings, use of computer programs to prepare documents, checking of drawings and calculation of quantities and cost estimates, respond to RFIs and RFCs and writing of technical reports
Develop solutions to a wide range of difficult technical highway design and construction problems
Develop proposals and estimates for project opportunities
Work under general direction and support multiple projects concurrently
Independently prioritize work, and determine and develop approach to highway engineering design solutions
Managing technical work independently while working in groups providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members
Support other AECOM interoffice departments or sub-consultants while working collaboratively with variety of engineering/design disciplines (i.e. structural, geotechnical, traffic, electrical, drainage, environmental, survey)
Supervise designers, drafters, technicians, technologists and junior engineers primarily in the Highway Engineering discipline
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS + 6 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer designation or eligible within 12 months
Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent field
Ideally 10+ years experience in related engineering background
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Autocad
Experience with Ontario municipal and/or provincial road design projects
Competent in utilizing MTO design software / programs and applying Ministry highway design policies and procedures
Experience with Transportation Association of Canada Geometric Design Manual for Canadian Roads (2017), and MTO Design Supplement, and the MTO Roadside Design Manual (2017)
Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario
Field construction and contract administration experience
Knowledge, training and experience with the Ontario OH&S Act and safe work practices
Successful candidate should have the ability to provide technical oversight and management of highway design for a variety of complex transportation projects including both rehabilitation and new construction assignments
Ability to achieve and maintain high levels of quality and consistency of all client deliverables and outputs
Have strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
Be able to communicate effectively with Clients
Be able to provide innovative design solutions
Proactively identify opportunities for improvement
