Job Summary

Waste Project Manager – Warrington Based – with Travel to Germany

We are currently looking for an experienced German speaking project manager and / or engineer with experience in waste management, waste retrieval, safety and mining operation (optional). The candidate will, together with the client and German partner companies, be working on solving one of Europe’s most prioritised waste challenges in retrieving waste from the Asse II mine in Germany. You will be working in a German context and it is therefore essential that you can operate on a proficient technical and German language level (C2)

This is a technical role that will:

  1. Support the business development team during pursuits to:
  • Identify scope gaps and add into work packages for the supply chain

  • Assess delivery risks

  • Enhance confidence in pricing

  • Offer challenge to the Supply chain

  1. Lead tender activities for domestic opportunities at various nuclear decommissioning sites. All of these will be decommissioning and waste management.

  2. Lead international pursuits both in Germany (complex waste retrieval and management from salt mine), Sweden (decommissioning and waste management for Vattenfall and Oskarsham reactors) and Romania (owners engineer for construction and commissioning of new ILW repository).

  3. Act as the lead for the AECOM E&C delivery team on site with responsibility for the organisation, direction, supervision and coordination of project activities, Influential Partners and subcontractors.

  4. Leads Health, Safety and Environmental matters

In preparation of the above areas of work, the individual will be required to familiarise themselves with the AECOM systems, processes and procedures by completing short assignments to other sites in the north of Scotland, Cumbria, Berkshire and Cheshire.

Minimum Requirements

Skills required

  • Multi-disciplinary construction expertise, backed up by extensive demonstrable relevant experience

  • Ability to manage target cost and fixed price contracts

  • Strong communication (written and verbal)

  • Collaboration and interpersonal skills

  • See also preferred qualification section (below) relating to technical and behavioural requirements

  • Proven track record of successful delivery of projects between £20-40m.

Industry experience required

  • Extensive directly relatable experience on nuclear new build projects

  • Extensive experience in establishing and managing nuclear project delivery functional support organisations

  • Supply chain management

  • Use of NEC3 contracting structures

  • Duties required under the CDM 2015 regulations

  • Project Management Planning

  • Contract and commercial awareness

  • Quality Management

  • Contract Administration

  • Health and Safety Management

Years’ experience?

  • 10 years construction management experience

  • 5 years’ experience on a Nuclear Licenced site

Security clearance ?

Due to the nature of the role and the client, it is important that all applications have resided in the UK for at least 5 years. We need all candidates to ideally be Security Cleared (SC) or have no issue in obtaining SC. A prerequisite for SC is that the applicant has lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction, Project, Facility Management or other relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent
