AECOM Senior Structural Engineer in St Albans, United Kingdom

Job Summary

AECOM's is recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer who will manage/deliver an existing portfolio of projects within the St Albans Structures Team. You will be providing design and analysis solutions to building structures problems. The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role on structural engineering design for a variety of government sector and private sector related projects, managing engineers, graduates and technicians as required.Projects will generally be within the South East but some will be located nationally and in some instance internationally requiring occasional travel to meetings and construction sites. The post will also involve leading the structural engineering design for multi-disciplinary engineering teams on some projects, potentially drawing on resources in other UK Offices. Experience of structural engineering design using Eurocodes or similar national standards for of a range of structures in steel and reinforced concrete is essential. Additionally we would expect that a Senior Structural Engineer has a sound knowledge of construction contracts and commercial awareness along with an understanding of CDM regulations and duties. Desirable: Full, clean driving licenceResponsibilities:Take responsibility for the preparation of structural calculations. Undertake structural analysis and design using both computer & hand techniques.Contribute to the independent technical review of analyses prepared by othersAssist in the management of project delivery in order to provide clients with results on time and budgetUndertake structural design of structures using current British Standards and EurocodesHave a desire to learn new skills and the ability to consider the wider engineering issues related to the work being undertaken

Minimum Requirements

  • Experienced in use of a commercially available design software packages (e.g. Tekla Building Designer, Tedds)

  • Some experience in the use of Finite Element Software (eg Lusas, Ansys) desirable

  • Ability to communicate using hand drawn sketches.

  • Able to decide on the level of reliance and accuracy to attach to results of computer analysis and to interpret results into practical engineering solutions

  • Demonstrable track record in the preparation of designs contributing to the delivery of client projects

  • Able to work on a number of projects simultaneously

  • A minimum 4-5 years structural engineering design experience is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in an appropriate Civil or Structural engineering discipline

  • Bachelors degree in an appropriate Civil or Structural engineering discipline

  • Chartered Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers or similar.
