AECOM has an immediate opportunity for an
Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) Specialist in Springfield, Virginia. The ESOH Specialist is responsible for inspecting and evaluating the workplace, equipment and practices for adherence to the Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Program (implemented by the ESOH Manager) and government health and safety standards and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
Knowledgeable in industrial hygiene investigations to include but not limited to ergonomics, indoor air quality, noise evaluations, lighting surveys, lead assessments, water sampling, and radiation surveys.
Maintains the ability to work as an individual and within a group.
Able to interface with the client to include U.S. Government civilians, Military personnel, and subcontractors.
Educates, observes, and ensures all personnel are performing work in compliance to all company ESOH policy and procedures.
Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.
Responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, and the environment.
Applies basic knowledge and understanding of OSHA requirements to assist in the safety of work activities within assigned area.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to address all levels of audience.
Demonstrates the ability to create comprehensive reports with attention to detail.
Able to assist with administrative tasks of varying levels.
Must be a US Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in ESOH-related field such as Safety, Health or Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or demonstrated equivalent is preferred.
Minimum of five years of position related experience. ESOH-related experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
Excellent written communication skills; proficient knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
Position may require travel.
Active, fully adjudicated TS/SCI w/poly is preferred.
Pursuing and/or completed ES&H related professional certifications including, but not limited to the Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Professional (GSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Ergonomic Associate, Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) certifications is preferred.
