Position Title Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC & Plumbing

AECOM's Buildings & Places business line is actively seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide development engineering and design services for public and private clients for the Michigan B+P Practice with location in either our Grand Rapids or Southfield office. Project work will focus on mechanical design including HVAC, plumbing and controls. This position will involve working with a multidisciplinary team who work together to conceive, permit, design and provide construction administration support for small and large projects.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing and fire protection for commercial and institutional facilities
Serves as a technical specialist for the office in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles or processes for an assigned area of responsibility (i.e., subject matter, function, type of facility or industry) such as healthcare and Data Center Facilities
Plans and develops segments of engineering projects with unique or controversial problems that have an important effect on major organization programs, which involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches
Organize/plan projects to ensure quality controls and project criteria are met and within budget
Assist in preparing proposals and presenting to Clients
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering program
10+ years of experience in a consulting engineering environment
Licensed professional engineer
Experience working on design for healthcare, data centers (all Tiers) and mission critical facilities projects
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Experience in HVAC, plumbing and controls engineering
Develops without supervision conceptual designs, design development documents and construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
Experience in multiple or all areas of HVAC design including: chilled water systems, boiler systems, ventilation system, use of codes and standard
Must possess a valid driver's license
Experience with AutoCad, BIM, and REVIT is a plus
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Self-starter, self-motivated, and should prioritize well
