Position Title Transportation Construction Inspector

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Transportation Construction Inspector for immediate employment in the South Vermont, NY office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Inspection of transportation projects that could include highways, bridges, railroads or airports
Reviews drawings to prepare for the inspection
Understands the design of the construction that will be inspected
Documents the results of the inspection and communicates to the Resident Engineer or designated Lead Inspector
Conducts field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation
Inspects work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right- of-way issue resolution
Utilizing client-furnished online applications to enter project quantities, daily work reports, including equipment, hours, etc.
Preparing daily work reports
Preparing bi-weekly estimates of quantities
Preparing changes of design/supplementary agreements
Recording materials certifications in accordance with State procedures
Tracking utility relocation and plots final facility locations on as- built drawings
Monitoring erosion control measures for compliance with applicable permits
Monitoring compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and Wage Rate requirements
Calculating and verifying final contract quantities
Checking/confirming that all final quantities have been paid
Documenting reasons for time extensions
Documenting reasons for quantity overruns/underruns
High School Diploma
2+ years of experience monitoring highway/bridge construction on state or federal aid projects
ACI Field Testing Technician Grade I certification
Candidate should also have or have the ability to acquire relevant certifications (asphalt, erosion control, traffic control, etc.)
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record Candidate will be open to working overtime and/or irregular work hours
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
