AECOM Senior Inspector in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Job Summary

The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Inspector for seasonal employment for a project in Timmins during the 2020 construction season. This is a full-time seasonal contract position which will extend from April to November, 2020 with possible extension for subsequent years.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspection duties including photographs and field notes, measurements, red-line drawings, payment quantities, review of changes, application of specifications

  • Ensure the contractor compliance with the standards and specifications of the contract documents

  • Maintain records of the contractor human and equipment daily resources

  • Undertake all site inspections as required as agent of the Owner

  • Liaise and daily follow up with the contractor.

  • Prepare daily progress reports. This includes works orders, materials delivery, and daily inspections

  • Follow up on any site instructions

  • Apply and implement all quality controls and quality procedures of the site

  • Prepare any site measurements and surveying checks needed

  • Co-ordinate and co-operate with client project manager during their site inspections

  • Monitor contractor QA/QC activities and maintain relevant records

  • Preparation of any correspondence including site instructions in accordance with the site requirements

  • Monitor the start-up, commissioning and handover of the works

  • Maintain records of materials tests performed and executed works

  • Audit inspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans

  • Must be willing to travel and work all hours as reasonably needed to monitor the contractor’s progress

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 8+ years of related site inspection experience

  • Field experience on municipal construction contracts including sewer, watermain, roadworks, traffic signals and bridges/culverts

  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Access to a vehicle for site work

  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • CET designation

  • 10+ years of related site inspection experience
