AECOM’s Justice practice in California is growing! We serve a wide range of clients in varied building types including mental health, detention and correctional facilities, courthouses, and public safety. AECOM’s umbrella of specialties allows opportunities for collaboration to provide integrated service offerings on a diverse range of projects. We are seeking a creative, experienced Senior Justice Designer to work out of the San Francisco office, someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills to help serve our clients.

The responsibilities include the following:
Develop conceptual, schematic and design development framework for building systems, cores, site plan, etc., in a team-based studio setting
Explore and share ideas including: drawing/sketching, model building, diagramming, 3-D work
Lead and coordinate design in a team-based studio setting
Client and/or public forum presentations
Develop articulate design narratives
Use digital software in the process of design: REVIT, AutoCad, Adobe Suite, Sketchup
Collaborate with other disciplines (engineers, landscape architects, urban designers) to present ideas and solutions to clients
Collaborate with design studio leader to develop a productive, creative idea- based design studio culture
Involvement in the justice design community, academia and intellectual discourse surrounding design and architecture, such as AJA, ACA, NACM, and AAJ
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
10+ years' experience including 3+ years in a leadership role working on medium to large scale projects with specific experience in detention/corrections
Technical and detailing experience to initiate and develop conceptual, schematic and design development framework for building systems, cores, site plan, etc.
Portfolio demonstrating built work with a significant authorship role
Strong conceptual design skills in exploring innovative approaches in an interdisciplinary environment
Understanding of building codes
Ability to travel including to Southern California
Demonstrated architectural design experience in California
Experience with California Board of State Community Corrections and California State Fire Marshal
Experience in design-build delivery of projects
Proficiency in Rhino, Grasshopper and other advanced visualization software
