Position Title Counsel / Senior Counsel - Labor & Employment

This role can based at either our San Francisco or Oakland, California office.
Functions of this position including but not limited to:
Provide counsel to and work closely with human resources on a broad range of employment matters, including recruiting, hiring, benefits, compensation, employee relations, discipline, terminations, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour compliance, and strategies for managing risk around employment matters.
Manage claims/litigation and outside counsel.
Handle and/or direct investigations and manage the L&E investigation function.
Conduct ongoing review and revision of AECOM’s human resources policies.
Prepare and conduct employment law training programs for human resources and management, manage Company training programs in conjunction with HR.
Ensure the Company’s compliance with federal, state, local and international employment laws and regulations.
Provide advice and counsel on traditional labor issues, including collective bargaining, union organizing and other issues arising under the NLRA and the Davis-Bacon Act.
Law degree from an accredited law program with an active license to practice in California.
Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience, including employment litigation experience.
In depth knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations including NLRA, SCA, FLSA, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, EEO laws, wage and hour and other federal and local laws affecting the employer-employee relationship and federal and state prevailing wage laws.
Demonstrate successful ability to integrate with and provide strategic counsel to Human Resources departments and other internal business partners.
Possess strong client-relations, interpersonal, written and oral communication and analytic skills.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally with all levels of management regarding complex employment legal issues.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities and deadlines and work with various stakeholders.
In-house experience with an engineering and construction company
Labor relations experience
