AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Project Manager/Senior Biologist for immediate employment with the Natural Resources Group in the San Diego, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects and career opportunities.
Primary duties will include managing large-to-small scale projects involving impact assessments, restoration, habitat management, and mitigation planning; leading regulatory compliance and permitting efforts including CEQA/NEPA, 404/401, CESA, and ESA, and preparing environmental documents and management plans. Candidate will also consult with resource agency staff, lead complex environmental, waters, and/or species-related permitting projects and participate in public review processes. Candidate will contribute to growth of department through marketing pursuits including proposal preparation, interviews, and business development. Successful marketing experience required.
Duties may also include supervision and/or direct mentoring of junior and mid-level staff. Experience with career development of junior and mid-level biologists preferred.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
Manages a team in preparation of large, complex natural resources documents such as Biological Technical Reports, Biological Assessments, Habitat Management Plans, Restoration Plans, Eagle Conservation Plans, and/or Jurisdictional Delineation Reports. Operates as primary author or senior reviewer as appropriate.
Manages projects/tasks that include all aspects of environmental analysis (e.g., biological, cultural, air quality, traffic, etc.).
Manages projects with large-scale field efforts and intensive schedules.
Manages large-scale compliance projects requiring adherence to permit conditions.
Manages preparation of permit applications for federal, state, and local regulatory entities.
Performs project management duties such as forecasting, tracking, accounting updates, invoicing, progress reports, and scheduling.
Reviews contracts for understanding of scope, fee, schedule, and deliverables, and all other contractual obligations
Develops work breakdown structure for control and integrity of work to be performed as and defined by the contract
Monitors and analyzes project costs, commitments, accruals, and changes, and takes corrective action where necessary
Identifies trends and deviations in financial performance to project team with recommended courses of action.
Operates as primary point of contact for clients and resource agencies on projects.
Performs client management duties such as recurring status meetings, milestone check ins, and day-to-day interfacing
Operates as direct supervisor to team of staff.
Focuses on supporting career development of individuals in the practice.
Collborates with other supervisors in the office in a team-based environment.
Successfully prepares competitive proposals.
Interviews well with large or small team for a variety of clients.
Contributes to growth of practice through business development.
BA/BS in Biology or Ecology, with 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience writing Habitat/Species Conservation Plans
Team player with excellent listening skills and diplomacy
10+ years of experience in natural resources/project management
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly spreadsheet skills and ability to quickly learn new computer applications including Oracle-based proprietary programs
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
