Position Title Electrical Planner / Field Engineer (SONGS)

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Electrical Planner / Field Engineer to work in San Clemente, CA on the SONGS project.

Typical Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, performs complex duties utilizing advanced techniques and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and methods. Assumes lead responsibilities for a team of engineers and professional support staff.

  • Supports Engineering and Work Control with procurement of engineered equipment and components for Emergency Preparedness, plant computer system, and Security related maintenance and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Supports Engineering in the installation of temporary electrical equipment to support maintenance and decommissioning activities including HVAC, crane repower and testing, radiation monitoring, and water filtration, and processing system set up.

  • Supports to determine field routing of temporary power runs.

  • Develops Maintenance work packages for EP, plant computer system, radiation monitoring, and Security related maintenance and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Develop decommissioning work packages for design implementation, temporary services, and demolition activities.

  • Monitors field installation activities, performs necessary sign off / verifications in work packages.

  • Performs field checks that all entries in work packages are current and up to date.

  • Performs or supports pre-job briefings in accordance with applicable procedures, with all required personnel prior to start of work activities.

  • Assists implementation personnel with the interpretation of design requirements during installation.

  • Prepares Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) when conflicts in design or field installation needs dictate.

  • Prepares Request for Information documents (RFIs), and field sketches (FSKs), as well as Field Material Requisitions (FMRs) for purchase of permanent and temporary / consumable plant material.

  • Performs surveillance of subcontractor activities.

  • Dispositions nonconformance reports (NCRs) associated with assigned tasks.

  • Coordinates with Operations for Work Authorization and lock out / tag out configurations; coordinates work package closure.

  • Coordinates turnover of assigned packages to document control.

  • Prepares turnover packages for completed work.

  • Prepares rigging plans as applicable to the discipline

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or demonstrated combination of education/training and experience.

Experience:

6 years of experience in nuclear power plant control, planning, maintenance, or reactor operations.

Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred

  • Site knowledge of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) electrical systems and components with emphasis on Security and Plant Computer Systems is highly preferable as is knowledge of the SONGS SAP historical record system.

  • San Onofre site SAP experience for document retrieval and general software navigation.

  • San Onofre site experience with general electrical system arrangements
