This person will be an integral part in the core management team of a $3.6B Airport Redevelopment Program (ARP) for the Salt Lake City International Airport.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Construction of a new consolidated terminal building, north concourse, parking structure, and connection with the light rail system. Oversight of the implementation of the overall site safety plan by the Program Management Team, CMAR, contractors, and owner’s representatives.

  • Monitoring and reporting safety metrics.

  • Ensuring AECOM’s safety policies and procedures are appropriately implemented for AECOM staff on the project site.

  • The Safety Manager will report to the Deputy Program Directors responsible for the construction activities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or construction related discipline or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, certification, training, skills, knowledge, and abilities.

  • 10+years of progressive work experience in the Health and Safety field.

  • The candidate must have demonstrated experience in a leadership position in Health and Safety Programs and preferably certification or membership/affiliation with a professional safety related organization.

  • Candidate should have completed various OSHA Training programs including 10 hour, 30 hour and Confined Space.

  • The successful candidate responsible for assuring safety compliance throughout all levels of the construction program.

  • Experience in performing site visits to verify Health and Safety control measures are in place.

  • Experience reviewing all Contract Documentation relating to Health and Safety requirements and providing advise of changes required to maintain a safe environment.

  • Experience reviewing contractor Safety Programs along with a description of the hazards peculiar to the scope of work and make any recommendations required to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in preconstruction and pre-activity meetings with contractors to ensure compliance with TRP Construction Safety Program and participation in other various meetings.

  • Ability to monitor the construction program and look ahead schedules and inform parties of any unacceptable risks and recommend actions to reduce risks.

  • Demonstrated experience ensuring that all Consultant and Construction personnel are issued and wear the relevant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and that these individuals and any visitors to the site are provided relevant information and training to maintain their safety.

  • Candidates must have a successful track record in risk management, conflict resolution; have a positive attitude; work well under pressure and a propensity for collaborative teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on aviation capital improvement projects of $200 million or greater in value is preferred.
