Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative and technically talented Building Inspector for employment in Sacramento for multiple projects. This position will be responsible for the inspection of buildings and other sites to ensure works are constructed in accordance with contract documents, submitted construction work plans, and other relevant documents. This role is primarily based in the field and is to be a minimum 2-year assignment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for performing inspections to monitor the overall conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements

  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspections records

  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning, field changes

  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers

  • Performs general and task specific safety and environmental surveillance

  • Prepares work activities report for all shifts and prepares a shift report

  • Tracks quality control records as directed

  • Identifies potential coordination, quality and safety or environmental issues and raises appropriately

  • Assists in reviews of contract and shop drawings as requested

  • Other duties that may arise

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education

  • 5+ years of related field inspection and quality assurance experience

  • Current ICBO certification required

  • Thorough knowledge of inspection principles, practices, and procedures, applicable laws, and relevant government regulations

  • Ability to adjust to changing job environments and desire to work in the field

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong desire to continuously improve technical skills and quality

  • Available for work/travel outside normal office hours & inter-departments, as required

  • Work well under pressure with an organized approach to managing tasks, time and workload

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites
