Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Scientist/ Geologist for immediate employment in the Rocky Hill, CT office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in geology, specific to the environmental industry. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical writing and data management

  • Organizing, analyzing, and interpreting analytical laboratory data to evaluate remediation efficiency, delineate contaminant plumes, and describe temporal trends of contaminants

  • Preparing work plans, reports and project deliverables

  • Developing scopes of work and preparing cost estimates

  • Preparing conceptual remediation designs and specifications

  • Managing technical support staff, subcontractors and subconsultants

  • Working under supervision of a Project Manager or Senior Level Team Member

  • Learning and using the AECOM Financial and Quality Management Systems, and having financial ownership of assigned Tasks (i.e. budgets & invoicing)

  • Working both in the office and in field on projects as needed for a wide variety of remediation and construction sites

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Environmental Science or related field

  • 4+ years of related experience

  • General knowledge of geological principles

  • Good understating of health and safety aspects of contaminated land projects

  • Experience preparing reports (e.g., soil, groundwater, or vapor intrusion investigations) for submittal to clients and state agencies

  • Experience with soil sampling, drilling, and well installation

  • Experience with working on complex construction projects, and remediation system operation and maintenance

  • Experience with site investigation techniques, developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to learn through on-the-job experience

  • Capable of using Excel spreadsheets, word processing and standard office software

  • Completed 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current on 8-hour refreshers

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geoscience or Geochemistry

  • Good working knowledge of environmental regulations (CT Preferred)

  • Current/In progress PG

  • Task management experience and skills

  • Experience with gINT, GIS, Hydrologic / Hydraulic models or other water modeling software

  • Experience with working on large-scale remediation systems

  • Experience leading field teams and training junior staff

  • Strong team worker, flexible and hard working
