Responsible for initiating and developing construction document drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project’s discipline team leads.
Under minimal supervision, may complete design documents of complex projects.
Fully understands codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.
Fully understands the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures.
Fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents.
Requires general knowledge of design development, construction documents, finish selection and Furniture Fixture & Equipment (FF&E) processes
Employee may hold pieces of project or have significant technical role, as a project lead; final authority usually rests with a more senior staff member, manager or a design leader
Ability to work in a deadline-driven, fast paced environment
Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills fostering positive work environment
Subject matter expertise at the full performance level in design and space planning of commercial and governmental interior construction projects
Working knowledge of systems furniture and specifications, demonstrated experience and emphasis on space planning, experience with building codes and criteria
Demonstrated experience in working with multi-discipline such as mechanical, electrical, telecom, fire protection
Demonstrated experience in gathering and defining design requirements with requesting customers and preparing alternative solutions ranging from conceptual design to final design within established parameters
Demonstrated experience creating design and construction documents, and generating presentation graphics, collecting, preparing, and reporting programmatic information
Ability to work within US Government organization and follow established processes and procedures
Travel domestically or overseas as required
Outstanding design and graphic skills
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in architecture or interior design
- Licenses, and/or certifications preferred: National Council of Architectural Review Boards (NCARB), National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)
