Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Cultural Heritage Specialist. This role will be based in our Richmond Hill, ON office. Reporting to the Technical Practice Manager in the CRM department this individual will be the lead for heritage studies conducted in Ontario for a wide array of federal, provincial and municipal governments and agencies as well as private sector clients.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Over-seeing the completion of Heritage Screening, Evaluation, and Impact Assessment Reports, Heritage Conservation Plans, HCD and related studies

  • Work with and mentor less experienced cultural heritage staff within the department

  • In addition to technical responsibilities, will participate in business development activities to aid in the expansion of AECOM’s service delivery client range

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the fields of Heritage Planning, Architectural History, Cultural Heritage Studies, Canadian History or related discipline

  • 8+ years experience in Cultural Heritage with at least five year’s experience in a consulting context

  • Professional Membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP)

  • Must have a detailed working knowledge of and demonstrable experience in working with relevant provincial and federal legislation and heritage policy including but not limited to the Ontario Heritage Act, Planning Act, Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Provincial Heritage Properties, Ontario Heritage Bridge Guidelines, Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada and federal, provincial and municipal EA Acts)

  • Demonstrable experience in business development in heritage field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence

  • Experience with Ontario Archaeology

  • Eligible to obtain federal security clearance
