Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Deputy Construction Manager for immediate employment for on-site assignments on a large USAID-funded infrastructure program in the Middle East.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Reports to the Program Construction Manager and supports all aspects of construction supervision including managing AECOM local subcontractors, planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling activities for a wide range of ongoing and new multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects. Projects include a combination of roadway improvements, water infrastructure, and water treatment task orders. Additional projects will be added as upcoming designs are completed and tendered for construction.
Contribute to developing and implementing systems to ensure that construction contractors’ quality and safety standards meet requirements; assist in the periodic updating of program standards/procedures and training of project staff; participate in oversight of local program staff.
Be proactive in identifying any changes in scope, time, or budget in construction activities and reporting same to the Program Construction Manager
Participate in monitoring construction progress – including analysis and reporting on any anticipated delays that might impact the timeliness of the construction contractor’s performance.
Responsible for the timely communication of contract issues with the Program Construction Manager, the construction contractor, and the site team
Support the Program Construction Manager’s role as the primary liaison between the project, USAID, and other necessary government representatives for construction related issues
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related field
10+ years of progressive experience in construction management on infrastructure projects
English language fluency, as well as excellent written and oral communications skills
Demonstrated problem solving and leadership experience and the ability to work in cross-cultural situations with political, cultural and ethnic sensitivities and security environments similar to those found throughout the Middle East
Construction Safety Training (minimum OSHA 10 level or equivalent)
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years’ experience overseeing international construction project. Experience with task order programs a plus.
PE license or equivalent licensing from other countries, as applicable
Familiarity with Prolog Converge and/or similar document control systems
Familiarity with BOQ formats, FAR and FIDIC based Construction Contracts
Relevant certifications such as PMP, NACE, OSHA 40, etc. a plus
