AECOM Senior Bridge Engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a full-time bridge engineer for complex bridge instrumentation and rehabilitation. Areas of transportation structure experience include: instrumentation and load testing of steel structures, fatigue evaluation of steel structures, and preservation of post-tensioned segmental concrete bridges. A qualified candidate should also have familiarity with Microsoft Office, Mathcad, Bentley Microstation, Midas Civil, and structural analysis software packages.

The AECOM North Carolina structures team works on a wide variety of structural engineering projects, and the successful candidate may perform all or some of the following responsibilities as a senior bridge engineer:

Instrumentation, load testing, and imaging of complex structures

Construction phase services of complex steel structure projects

Design and load rating of post-tensioned segmental concrete bridges

National complex structure projects

Feasibility studies, evaluations, and preservation projects

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • MS in Structural Engineering

  • 2 years of experience with instrumentation and testing of structures

  • Thorough knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation

  • Ability to execute quality control procedures for structure design plans and calculations

  • Ability to work with multi-disciplined teams and communicate with engineers from other disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in structural engineering

  • PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within six months

  • NBIS inspection team leader

  • Successful completion of course FHWA-NHI-130078, Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges

  • Experience with post-tensioned segmental concrete bridge design

  • Experience with imaging of structures

  • Strong communication skills
