Position Title Maintenance Technical Specialist - M&TE

Job Summary


  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • May be required to work overtime or varying hours.

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility.

  • Responsible for maintenance procedural development, review, and updating throughout all phases of the project.

  • Provide leadership on special or technical problem resolution.

  • Provide technical assistance/direction to Maintenance Superintendents, Supervisors, craft personnel and technicians.

  • Act as the techical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for trend analysis, reporting and recommending preventative and predictive maintenance programs for improving equipment reliability.

  • Provide support for equipment changeover planning.

  • Ensure technicacl instructions relating to maintenance (corrective, preventative, changeover, and configuration change) on facility systems, equipment and components are technically accurate and can be completed in a timely manner such that the safety of workers, the public or the environment is not compromised.

  • Assist in assessment of manpower requirements for scheduled maintenance activities and assignment of work orders to the Maintenance Supervisors, and will support the Maintenance Department by performing a variety of engineering and maintenance related functions.

  • Brief department manager concerning maintenance engineering issues and deadlines.

  • Assist the Work Control process with planning, writing, and editing plans, procedures and other project documents.

  • Follow up on projects, reports, and information as required by management.

  • Assist management with interviews and tracking new hire in-processing.

  • Provide department administrative support, including record keeping and generation/maintenance of forms.

  • Prioritize administrative tasks based on current plant project activities and status.

  • Help ensure the performance of emergency repairs to systems, equipment, and components are completed in a timely manner.

  • Assist vendors in performing instrumentation/electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks that are beyond the department's capability. Provide technical support for the work.

  • Specify maintenance equipment needs to complete instrumentation/electrical/mechanical tasks.

  • Assist engineers with modifications/revisions to plant systems, equipment and components.

  • Develop technical solutions to address maintenance related problems while minimizing cost and schedule impact. This will require communication of technical information to management, peers, and subordinates so that safe and environmentally sound operations are not compromised.


This position is designated as an unescorted access position and is subject to the requirements of the Unescorted Access Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by the PCD Commander.

Minimum Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or demonstrated equivalent and 4 years related experience


  • Associate degree in engineering or demonstrated equivalent and 8 years related experience


  • High school diploma/equivalent and 12 years related experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a US or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain PCAPP site access

  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment

  • Have thorough understanding of equipment operation, maintenance and restrictions imposed by safety and environmental regulations

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in writing technical and test procedures

  • Must be detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in solving mechanical and equipment problems.

  • Able to develop technical solutions to address maintenance related problems while minimizing cost and impact on schedule.


  • Must be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, test equipment, mobile cranes, and other material handling equipment.

  • Must have extensive experience in Measure and Test Equipment (M&TE)

  • Ability to act as the SME for M&TE and STR process.

  • Ability to maintain Toxic Tool and Equipment Report.

  • Ability to maintain M&TE calibration and inspection schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in demilitarization, nuclear, chemical or industrial maintenance or operations

  • Knowledge of demilitarization plant systems, processes, and technical drawings and schematics

  • Working knowledge of CMMS industry software (Maximo)

  • Predictive maintenance experience

  • Preventative maintenance experience

  • Procedure development and implementation
