Job Summary

As a Surveyor you will work within the regional Building Surveying Team delivering a wide variety of professional services for public and private clients, predominantly the former. Such work comprises refurbishment, alteration and maintenance projects from inception through to completion on site. Services will be delivered across a number of sectors including Health, Industrial, Education, Commercial, Defence, Government, Leisure & Culture, predominantly Defence and Health. Whilst the work is to be undertaken across the south west region, assistance may need to be given to other regional Building Surveying Teams elsewhere in the UK.

Job Duties:

  • Lead on individual Building Surveying, Project Management, and Contract Administration commissions

  • Client development skills to develop business with existing clients and confidence to win new work

  • Prepare fee bids, mentor key team members to do the same and assist other growth managers in business development

  • Continuous improvement to our standards, processes and knowledge to deliver to our core clients

  • Mentoring and developing Assistant/Trainee Building Surveyors and other team members

  • Key account client management

  • Comply with all QSE procedures

  • Establish client briefs, appropriate fees, and cost control through to completion

  • Financial, commercial and risk management from project inception through to completion on own projects

  • Conducting a portfolio of fee based activities with our key multi sector client base

  • Fully involved in or managing others for the production of drawings, specifications and tender documents

  • Survey and Report writing for the full range of typical core Building Surveying services

  • Providing Principal Designer services.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Communication and relationship building

  • Solid project management experience in refurbishment, alteration and maintenance projects

  • Interface management skills

  • Planning and Programming Skills

  • Chairing and minuting meetings

  • Managing change control with Clients

  • Specification writing

  • Ability to obtain MoD Security Clearance

  • CSCS card holder

  • Good Understanding of contracts – e.g NEC3, JCT,

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in all core Building Surveying work areas especially design and project management

  • Experience of working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams

  • Excellent client and team interpersonal skills

  • Experience of working within the Defence sector desirable

  • Experience of providing Principal Designer services desirable but not essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally Degree qualified in Building Surveying

  • Preferable Chartered Status Holder

  • Qualification /training in Principal Designer duties preferable but not essential.
