Job Summary

AECOM has an exciting job opportunity for a bright, self-motivated individual who is interested in working in a collaborative, productive, and diverse team environment as a Wastewater Engineer / Data Analyst. Engineers with backgrounds specific to the Water, Environmental or Science markets are desired. The successful candidate will retrieve and analyze data from various Engineering sources to support condition assessment and capital improvement planning activities for a major wastewater conveyance and treatment client. S/he will utilize this data to coordinate and track progress on key organizational performance indicators and to assist stakeholders in making decisions related to strategic planning. S/he will prepare standard and ad hoc reports, compare consistency of data against other data sources, apply stringent QA processes to ensure accuracy, and identify/recommend process changes to ensure data integrity.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize efficiency and quality

  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases using Innovyze data management software applications

  • Collect and configure large datasets to meet project specifications

  • Develop and utilize data validation tools in Excel, Access and SQL to identify data quality issues

  • Identify trends or patterns in complex datasets and generate tables, charts, and or graphical output using tools such as Power BI

  • Filter and clean data by reviewing computer reports and performance indicators to locate and correct problems

  • Locate and define new process improvement needs

  • Work collaboratively with other engineering, GIS Analysts, Field Inspectors, and IT/IS team

  • Document work processes, compose training documents and conduct training sessions

  • Implement, configure and test commercial-of-the-shelf data management related software to meet project specifications

  • Provide technical support to field inspection teams

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or Information Technology Information Systems/Management, Mathematics, Statistics.

  • 2+ years of experience in the environmental/engineering field with emphasis on environmental data management or an advanced degree: MS, PhDExperience with ESRI Software Suite, MS SQL Server, and MS Access

  • Querying database servers using Microsoft Access or an equivalent software

  • Proficiency in Excel for manipulating and displaying data, including the use of pivot tables and charts

  • Effective organization and project management skills to meet multiple deadlines and attain results

  • Proven attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • High initiative, superior interpersonal skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Innovyze data management and modeling software including Innovyze InfoNet, InfoWorks, and InfoWater

  • Technical expertise in designing, implementing and documenting data models

  • Database design, data mining and segmentation techniques

  • Knowledge and familiarity with reporting packages (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

  • Programming experience (Python, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.)

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages to analyze datasets ( SAS , SPSS , Excel)

  • Experience in the planning, design and implementation of mobile applications for field data collection a plus
