AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support its structural bridge engineering practice in its Pittsburgh office. This position can be located in the following offices in PA Pittsburgh, Mechanicsburg, Conshohocken or Philadelphia.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Independently manage bridge design tasks including preparation of design calculations, development of contract drawings, specifications, and estimates for PennDOT and a variety of other clients

  • Manage a team of junior engineers and CADD Technicians to enable seamless design and plan development

  • Conduct bridge inspections and preparation of assessment reports

  • Collaborate with other disciplines

  • Monitor project progress and budgets to deliver projects on time, meeting scope and within budget

  • Participate in project meetings with clients, subconsultants and contractors as necessary

  • Participate actively with professional organizations

  • Assist in project pursuits

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 10+ years of progressive experience designing and detailing highway transportation structures, especially, on PennDOT projects

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • Experience as lead structural engineer on PennDOT projects

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, PennDOT programs, STAAD and other general software

  • Understanding of structural engineering principles and the skills to utilize it to provide innovative solutions for simple or complex structural engineering problems

  • Must possess excellent analytical, technical skills and communication (oral and written) skills

  • Must have prior experience leading structural portions of PennDOT projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with structural engineering focus

  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis
