The AECOM Pittsburgh, PA office is recruiting for a Senior Ecologist for project work in the Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia area.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Project Managers in running linear projects and oversight in the development and submittal of FERC filings, permit applications and reporting (wetland delineation, environmental assessments) Coordination of project field efforts (wetlands, cultural, listed species)

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology Science or related field

  • 7-10+ years of experience

  • FERC, USACE related to Section 404/401 permitting, state wetland, waterbody permitting, and rare, threatened and endangered species consultation skills

  • Experience with and knowledge of the State Filing processes for PA, WV, and OH is required

  • Experience with USACE Nationwide and Individual Permits, state permits, as well as knowledge regarding wetland mitigation. All work would be performed along with a team of experienced environmental professionals

  • Must have excellent management skills for overseeing project execution, coordinating staff, interacting with clients and agencies

  • Position will require work outside the office for client/agency visits and may require overnight travel

  • Some field work and travel may be required

  • Knowledge regarding wetland mitigation and restoration

  • Position will require work outside the office for client/agency visits and may require overnight travel

  • Due to the nature of this work, qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
