Job Summary

The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Entry Level Water/Wastewater Engineer for immediate employment in our Pittsburgh, PA office. The successful candidate will support the Water/Wastewater team in completing a variety of projects that involve conveyance systems, asset management, condition assessment, capital planning, pump stations, pipelines, storage, etc. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:

  • Provide solutions to our clients related to municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including planning, design, and construction of conveyance infrastructure, pump stations, storage and treatment facilities

  • Assist in the conditional assessment of wastewater conveyance and water distribution systems

  • Develop rehabilitation and replacement strategies for water and wastewater systems

  • Manage and analyze water and wastewater system asset data

  • Conduct hydraulic modeling and develop hydraulic designs, report writing, permitting, technical studies, and field support and construction management

  • Prepare contract plans and specifications and supporting work including calculations, hydraulic analyses, etc.

  • Prepare reports for public utility infrastructure projects

  • Interact with both private and municipal clients

  • Interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM and across various departments within the office and region

  • Actively participate in professional and technical organizations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental or Civil engineering with an emphasis in water/wastewater

  • Ability to periodically work outdoors and travel within Allegheny County

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Good organizational skills and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in local teams as well as the flexibility to work as part of multidisciplinary groups

  • Must possess a valid driver license​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred

  • NASSCO PACP Certification


  • Asset management (Innovyze)

  • Experience in SQL
