Job Summary

The Design Services Consulting Group (DCS) of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance professional for immediate hire in the Pittsburgh, PA office.

The appropriate qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of EHS compliance and auditing, relevant EHS permit package preparation, Phase I and Phase II assessments, environmental field sampling, client interaction, report preparation, excellent client/peer communication skills and agency coordination. This position has a great potential for career growth. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of engineers and scientists that are responsible for EHS compliance, permitting and environmental field sampling/monitoring in the Northeast Region with emphasis in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Understand applicable EHS regulations, prepare and provide summary of relevant requirements

  • Work independently or as part of a team

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Perform site visits and field observations

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in environmental science, biology, geology, safety science or related fields

  • An understanding of USEPA Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, environmental due diligence practices/standards, USDOT HM-181, PADEP Act 2, Residual Waste,

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant experience with environmental, health and safety compliance/permitting related to private (commercial, industrial, power, oil/gas, rail, manufacturing) and public sector clients

  • pollution prevention and preparedness, stormwater, tank systems, Process Safety Management (PSM) and construction safety is strongly desired

  • Environmental sampling experience a plus

  • Permitting skills and some knowledge of federal and state EHS regulations is a plus
