The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering support to the various ON-Call engineering contracts currently in place with CSX Transportation, and Norfolk Southern as required

  • Engineering review of plans

  • Preparation of estimates,

  • Preparation of written correspondence

  • Processing of correspondence via e-mails or letters,

  • Negotiations with adjacent property owners as well as Initiating correspondence as required

  • Assisting with railroad inquires, and reproduction and distribution of incoming documents

  • Electronic database management usage, review, handling, tracking and filing various documents as part of the overall Program

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university

  • 5+ years of experience in the rail industry and with Norfolk Southern’s Real Property Management System

  • Work cooperatively with others

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills; Perform other tasks, as needed.

  • This position requires a detailed-oriented person with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Position will require client and stakeholder interaction

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understands working in a railroad environment, including safety requirements

  • Experience corresponding with stakeholders and railroad clients about sensitive topics and information
