Job Summary

The Digital Engineering team is a newly established group that focuses on delivering CAD, GIS and 3D intelligent delivery services across an array of exciting projects.

To be successful in this role, candidates will have leadership experience running the 3D design/drafting component of projects, the ability to guide teams through the accurate authoring of models and drawings in a timely and efficient manner which ultimately improve the service offered to clients. Strong data management along with effective communication skills are essential as is the management of project staff.


  • Develop workflows and procedures.

  • Provision of technical expertise to suit client needs – including 3D intelligent delivery,

  • Reporting to management on project status, modelling and drafting issues;

  • Audit project and discipline teams against established workflows and procedures

  • Liaise with resource coordinators and give advice on drafting resources for all projects

  • Coordination with counterparts from the other business lines to ensure effective sharing of resources, tools and knowledge;

  • Coordinate training needs (as advised by Discipline Leaders), career progression and succession planning.

  • Mentoring and promoting effective teamwork to achieve results

  • Enabling and supporting Project Leads, to keep projects within time and budget targets;

  • Understanding business line strategies and plans

  • Displaying leadership by example;

  • Undertakes, manages and produces appropriate 2D and 3D CAD model production, documentation and other technical work tasks to agreed schedule including 3D intelligent delivery, standards (AECOM, client and project), and in accordance with the project plan.

  • Contributes to a complete and integrated set of digital project content including documents by working co-operatively with team members.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in successfully leading project teams

  • Demonstrated time management skills

  • Experience in the production of design and drawings to high standard of specification and presentation.

  • Ability to provide technical expertise to suit client needs

  • Proven experience in checking drawings

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Microstation essential

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Design or similar qualification

  • Minimum 10 years design experience

  • Professional affiliation (advantageous)
