Position Title Project Surveyor
United Kingdom - Oxfordshire
AECOM are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor to be based in our Oxford office where you will provide a comprehensive, accurate and value driven service for large, high profile and exciting key Clients in the Residential, Infrastructure and Health sectors.
As QS, you will work as part of the team to help deliver all aspects of quantity surveying from inception of a project through to completion. You will work on a number of projects, varying in complexity, ranging in value from £5 – £200m. The current projects will include:-
Residential - Large Housing Scheme in West London for Housing Provider – This 950 unit scheme is mixed tenure which will be built over several phases. AECOM are appointed to provide the Cost Adviser role for RIBA Stages 1-4 which could lead on to an Employer’s Agent role during the construction stage.
Infrastructure - Various road projects for local councils – AECOM are providing cost advice on a number of road schemes (re-surfacing, re-alignment, traffic management, roundabouts, etc) for local councils in and around the South East of England. Cost advice ranges from high level estimating to detailed Bill of Quantity production. Project value ranges from £500K – £10 million.
Healthcare – Numerous refurbishment projects for a large NHS Foundation Trust in London – AECOM are providing pre and post contract cost advice on serveral schemes ranging from £2M to £11 million. The projects generally involve the decanting of an existing ward space to create areas for other services. The projects are generally managed under the NEC3 Option A contract.
Feasibility estimates, cost planning (presenting with no supervision), contract procurement, tender documentation, contract administration, value engineering and commercial awareness, fee generation, dispute resolution, post contract management (competent in cost reporting).
Drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process.
Work on projects of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors and appropriate problem solving.
Manage projects effectively using ePM and other appropriate management systems/protocols.
Be aware of and develop marketing opportunities and where appropriate bring to the attention of Directors and the Business Development Department, in order that they may assist in following up potential leads enabling the development of new business.
Accumulate robust benchmarking data for future cost planning purposes.
FUNCTIONAL AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Cost Planning: Area Schedules, Measurement of Quantities and entry onto Estimating software, Cost planning, Presenting Cost plan.
Tender Documentation: BQ/Pricing Schedule Measurement, Preliminaries/Appendices, Team/Project leader for Design & Build and Traditional procurement routes.
Tender Evaluation: Review and Analysis of Tenders, Tender Reports.
Value Engineering and Commercial Awareness.
Post Contract Cost Management: Preparation of Valuations, Final Accounts, Cost Reporting, Change Control.
Post Contract Project Management: Acting as Employer’s Agent on Design and Build projects, issuing instructions, chairing meetings, managing the defect rectification process, issuing Notice of Completion of Making Good Certificates.
Fee Generation through existing Client Relationship and repeat business, supporting the development of new relationships on behalf of the business.
Able to work under own initiative where appropriate, but also keen to work as part of a team and to be mentored and to develop and progress in their career development.
Effective verbal and written communication skills – Client facing.
Very good numeracy skills.
Good knowledge of NEC3 and JCT suite of contracts.
Good knowledge of NRM1 and NRM2.
Keenness to challenge, but in an engaging, not aggressive way.
An enthusiasm to go the extra mile, to provide great client service.
Articulate and able to interface directly and confidently with Client Leads and Design Team Principals. Achieves the highest standards of professional competence and to demonstrate this ability in all dealings with clients and professional contacts, reinforcing the profile of the company.
Champions a safe and secure working culture in accordance with SHE guidelines and procedures.
Ideally Degree Qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification and hold or working towards Chartered status.
Some experience in the Oxford offices key sectors with experience and training within a PQS business.
Proven post qualification experience.
