AECOM Canada Nuclear Services is seeking an Engineer – Waste Management and Decommissioning to be based in Whitby or Ottawa, ON.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the VP Engineering and Chief Nuclear Engineer, the Engineer – Waste Management and Decommissioning is accountable to ensure that all related Technical Activities are performed in accordance with approved policies, standards, programs and procedures consistent with the expectations of the Chief Nuclear Engineer and the requirements of the ACNS Nuclear Quality System Manual.

The job incumbent will support the Chief Nuclear Engineer by providing expertise and specialized support in all areas supporting the Engineering interface with Waste Management and Decommissioning activities, including but not limited to Designs, Analyses, Reports and Assessments, Procedures, Plant configuration, Equipment Assessments, Radiation Protection and other Technical Products. The position is accountable to:

  • Ensure that they are trained, competent and qualified to perform their tasks

  • Provide investigation and resolution of technical issues during all phases of a project

  • Review Technical Products and provide input as required including but not limited to:

  • Technical Specifications

  • Design Drawings and Bills of Material

  • Commissioning Specifications and other Operating Documentation

  • Assessments of Decommissioning and Waste Management activities, equipment options, alternative strategies, and impact on safety and licensing assessments.

  • Use accumulated knowledge to perform other support functions in the areas of waste handling, licensing, radiation protection, nuclear and conventional safety.

Minimum Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Engineering or associated Science background

  • A minimum of 4 (four) years of relevant experience in a Waste Management or Decommissioning Environment as well as engineering support activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 (five) + years of experience in a Waste Management or Decommissioning Environment as well as engineering support activities

  • Preferably registered and practicing Professional Engineer, or eligible to be licensed

  • Demonstrated a good technical understanding of Nuclear Power Plant/Waste Site Operation

  • Demonstrated a good understanding of the Canadian Regulatory Environment and its requirements pertaining to Power Plant and Waste Site Operation.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of waste handling, characterization, and implementation of waste minimization principles.

  • Demonstrated in depth understanding of the practical application of engineering principles in their discipline.

  • Good written and verbal skills and an ability to influence and interact with all Management Levels.

  • Company Sponsorship to work in the country is not available for this position.
