Position Title GIS Specialist

The Transportation division of AECOM is actively seeking a GIS specialist to serve as an In-house consultant to FDOT District 5. The candidate shall have sufficient GIS and data analysis experience preferably with transportation network experience. This GIS Specialist is scheduled to join the Orlando, FL transportation group. The GIS specialist will immediately assist in the State of Florida Department of Transportation in GIS network development and maintenance, data analysis, and be available to supplement client staff to meet the Departments work program goals.
The responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:
Provide technical assistance in the areas of computer systems analysis and databases as related to GIS
Develop and manage Information systems documentation
Apply and acquire the knowledge of new GIS concepts
Evaluate engineering processes and to solve problems related to GIS
Identify and document user requirements for development of GIS application systems
Develop and maintain cordial, effective internal and external working relationships
Set goals, promote teamwork, identify customer needs
Interpret and communicate technical information relating to computer programming and data processing both verbally and in writing in clear, plain language
Communicate engineering information effectively verbally, in writing and using GIS technologies to small and large audiences
Develop presentations and training materials
Work well in a team environment
4+ years of experience
Knowledge of the concepts, terminology, principles and analytical techniques of the engineering specialty area of GIS
Knowledge in structuring and classifying information
Knowledge of the FDOT Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) database
Skill in ArcGIS software
Skill with GIS data processing automation
Skill in creating and maintaining relational geodatabases (SQL Server preferred
BS or BA preferred
GIS experience in transportation a plus
Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) certification a plus
Experience with ArcGIS Pro a plus
Portal for ArcGIS collaboration experience a plus
Experience with Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS a plus
