Job Summary

The main purpose of this role is to lead in the growth and development of the AECOM buildings business (structures). The position is suited to someone who will be able to mentor the less experienced staff as well as undertake projects of all sizes from conception to completion.

Job Duties

  • Front end engineering and design consulting skills. It may require global client interaction as well. This is not a back office role and may include some travel.

  • Leading by example, work winning, value engineering, knowledge of modern computational methods and technology along with operation control skills are desired.

  • Integration with other disciplines and leading the Structural design team to develop technically sound structural design solutions conforming to international standards and best practices whilst maintaining a high level of checking of work being issued.

  • Discuss and understand complete scope of work and the specific project requirements and organize a team to execute the work in a given time frame.

  • Provide high level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.

  • Appreciation of Integrated Project Delivery approach and technologies like BIM (Building information Management) are desired.

  • Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery

Specific Skills Required

  • High level of structural analysis packages

  • Ability to use CAD/Revit

  • Good communication including Microsoft Office packages

  • Good understanding of project finances

  • Ability to mentor other staff

Minimum Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience on working in Structural Engineering design projects.

  • Preferable experience of design in commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, manufacturing, Pharma and high rise projects using latest design and construction technologies. Design of large Healthcare and Airport Projects will be an added value.

  • Design experience in international projects would be an excellent plus.

  • Experience in the design of the heavy and medium industrial steel structures will be added plus.

  • Must have knowledge of governing structural design standards Eurocodes, BS, Building Regs etc.

  • Membership of recognized professional institutions

  • Should be a chartered engineer or working towards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering

  • Masters in Structural engineering (preferable)

  • Either Chartered or actively working towards it.
