AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to be based in our Nottingham office. Our Nottingham Structures team is closely linked to our Birmingham team which is expanding providing the rare opportunity to join a new and driven team charged with delivering our existing pipeline of projects and securing key work in the West and North. About Our Team:
We are leaders in the structural engineering delivery of complicated projects nationwide. Some of the sectors we work in include prime residential, high-spec offices, complex masterplan developments, complex oversite buildings on top of existing infrastructure developments and very significant public sector projects within West and North. Our team are ambitious and dynamic, and we promote an agile working policy based on trust that we will always produce good quality outcomes and deliver on time.
Projects will generally be within the Midlands Region, but some will be located outside this region requiring occasional travel to meetings and construction sites.
This position is suited to someone who will be able to lead on small projects and have a key input into larger projects with support from our Principal Engineers and Associate Directors. You will also be experienced in the mentoring of our existing Structural Engineers and Post-Graduate Engineers towards professional qualification and obtaining their membership with ICE and IStructE.
You will be able to collaborate with management and demonstrate ideas on how to improve our team internally. You will also be able to maintain an outstanding technical quality, be interested in new Engineering products and technologies and strive for successful outcomes.
You will be involved in front end engineering and design consulting skills. You may be involved in global client interaction with some international travel.
You will demonstrate understanding of modern computational methods and technology along with some financial control skills.
You will be able to discuss and understand complete scope of work and the specific project requirements and organize a team to execute the work in a given time frame.
Appreciation of Integrated Project Delivery approach and technologies like BIM (Building information Management) would be an advantage.
University Engineering Degree of BEng, MSc or Meng or Equivalent.
A High level of working knowledge of structural analysis packages.
Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
Experience on working in Structural Engineering design projects for a building consultancy. Preferable experience of design in commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, manufacturing and high-rise projects using latest design and construction technologies.
A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning.
Masters in Structural engineering (preferable).
Chartered Membership with the IStructE (preferred) or ICE.
Design experience in international projects would be an excellent plus.
Experience in the design of heavy and medium industrial steel structures will beneficial.
Ability to use CAD/Revit.
Good understanding of project finances.
Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate.
