Job Summary

AECOM’s GIS Team is seeking a GIS Specialist for immediate employment in the North Charleston, SC and/or our Arlington, Virginia office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information

  • Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping

  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes

  • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components

  • Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients

  • Lead project specific tasks while working closely with project team to meet client deadlines

  • Maintain an effective and frequent line of communication amongst team members

  • Data collection, creation, conversion, and editing

  • Database management

  • Geoprocessing of large datasets like LiDAR and bathymetric data

  • Custom GIS development and automation, including knowledge Python, SME, SQL

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Watershed Science or other related field with a strong emphasis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

  • 2+ years' experience

  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS products including 3D Analyst, Image, and Spatial Analyst

  • Familiarity with relational databases

  • Strong understanding of spatial data

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Capable of processing of large data sets like topography and bathymetry

  • Demonstrated writing & communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with computer programming in C++, Fortran, Java, Java-Script, Matlab, Python or other programming/scripting languages

  • Advanced GIS certifications or skills a plus

  • Experience in watershed and coastal modeling and delineating floodplains from engineering models

  • Knowledge of workflow automation, and model building, and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to track production efforts on multiple projects

  • Detail oriented

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced team environment

  • Excellent time management skills
