Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Civil Engineer (Coastal Engineering) for employment in the North Charleston, SC office. The (coastal) Engineer I will perform:

  • coastal hazard analyses,

  • hydrodynamic modeling,

  • coastal process analyses, and

  • flood hazard mapping.

The Engineer I may support climate change studies involving:

  • sea level rise analysis,

  • vulnerability and risk assessments, and

  • adaptive risk management planning.

The Engineer I may support planning, engineering, design, construction, and monitoring of:

  • coastal engineering,

  • shoreline restoration, and

  • port/marine studies and projects.

The Engineer I will engage in business development through professional organizations and networking.

The Engineer I will engage with clients and colleagues in a fast-paced team environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in water resources, environmental, coastal engineering or other related field

  • Knowledge of coastal engineering concepts (e.g., winds, waves, tides, and sediment transport)

  • Working knowledge of coastal analysis software programs

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Capable of processing of large data sets like topography and bathymetry

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil3D, and GIS)

  • Demonstrated writing & communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in coastal science/engineering or other related field

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification

  • Experience with computer programming in C++, Fortran, Java, Java-Script, Matlab, Python or other programming/scripting languages

  • Advanced GIS certifications or skills a plus
